Welcome Everyday Heroes, I’m Bert Botta, the creator of the Everyday Heroes podcast series and welcome. One day about 3 years ago I experienced something that would forever change how I look at relationships! Here's what happened …I was the editor of the Private Jet Pilots newsletter and I was doing interviews for pilot profiles in the newsletter. I’ve always been a “people person” but so much of the time my relationships were like “Hey, how you doing, gotta run!” That usually left me wanting more. But during the interviews, I got to really know my fellow pilots, I discovered how much I really enjoyed getting to know them on a more personal level by working with them that way. That feeling of connection made me realize that I found something that I’ve always been good at, connecting people with something that I really enjoyed doing, TURNING INTERVIEWS INTO PODCASTS that connect everyone, the guys and gals who I interview with the ones who listen to my podcasts and me! Perfect! Long story short, everyone wins! My podcasts are more than random stories; they are powerful messages of entertainment, hope, education, connection, and community for my listeners, especially for those of us in the aviation community. (9) The Goat Lady and God: Powerful Spiritual Secrets For a HURTING WORLD!
- T This is no ordinary woman! Ladies, if you need a shot of inspiration, especially with all that's going on these days, listen to Gina’s story of growing up alone, that is except for the power of God in her life and her father’s persistent comment that “there’s no such word as ‘can’t’” that continually rang in her ear!
Gina is 5'4" tall and 110 lbs. Most people would think that she’s “too small” to be an iron and steel forger, a blacksmith, a horse and goat trainer, a wilderness photographer, a hunter who packs into the mountains with her goats, a paramedic, nurse, and one of the first women to be hired as a fire fighter on the elite Oregon "hotshot" team.
The only flaw I could find in my time with her was her limited vocabulary; she's unable to pronounce and use the word "can't" in a sentence!
Listen to her story of how, as a seven year old girl she was raised in the mountains, by a father and grandfather who taught her the power of "you can do this" and "brain over brawn."
A country person by nature, a few years ago Gina started developing the time honored craft of Blacksmithing, making steel into rustic useful items. With her living next to the beautiful Cascade Mountains in Oregon, photography was a natural since it’s something she’s done all her life.
Her approach to things she thought could be almost impossible was "this could be interesting."
As a woman of faith hear how her combination of "I can do this" and Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me" enabled her to do what could be considered nearly impossible for most women.
After we finished our interview I told her I felt like I had just heard the best, most inspiring sermon of my life!
She has spurned many offers of marriage to maintain her commitment to her faith and who knows what else she’s going to tackle next!
